On this smart fabrics, the hand's contact position is transmitted to a computer via a 10 bytes resolution Lilypad card. This allows a resolution of 1024 by 1024 input resolution. Two conductive fabrics are attached to a frame, each one weaved with conductive threads in different directions. When the performer presses any point of this textile instrument, the two fabrics are connected and the current eletrical value is sent to the computer. The technology of the textile is based simply on a voltage divider resistive principle! I developed this project at the National Scool of Industrial Creation (ENSCI) Paris, France, as a part of my senior thesis projet in December 2005. Since then I have become specialized in the creation of innovative electronic textiles and elaborate the design of this tactile fabric.

Recherche et développement de l'interface textile sensitive

Une premiere maquette fonctionnelle tissée sur un métier manuel, nous a permis de valider plusieurs points techniques:
la texture au toucher,
l'intégration des fils résistifs dans la structure du tissu,
l'espacement des fibres conductrices (soit la résolution de l'écran textil),
l'écartement et la tension des deux toiles (principe de connexion par pression).
Par la suite, la réalisation d'une série de toilles à l'echelle 1/1 nous a permis d'avancer sur d'autres

Principe d'accroche du tissu a son cadre. (bordures du tissu, principe de laçage, tension par câbles..?)
Concentrique entre la toile et son circuit électronique
Principe de montage et démontage du cadre (pliable et transportable)

Recherche et développement de l'interface textile sensitive

Une premiere maquette fonctionnelle tissée sur un métier manuel, nous a permis de valider plusieurs points techniques:
la texture au toucher,
l'intégration des fils résistifs dans la structure du tissu,
l'espacement des fibres conductrices (soit la résolution de l'écran textil),
l'écartement et la tension des deux toiles (principe de connexion par pression).
Par la suite, la réalisation d'une série de toilles à l'echelle 1/1 nous a permis d'avancer sur d'autres

Résolutions techniques:

Principe d'accroche du tissu a son cadre. (bordures du tissu, principe de laçage, tension par câbles..?)
Concentrique entre la toile et son circuit électronique
Principe de montage et démontage du cadre (pliable et transportable)
